The Board of Elections consists of three members:
James F. Paxton (D), Chair
Helen Lail (R), Secretary
Judy Little (D), Board Member
Party appoints board members. Two board members are of the governor’s political party, and the other is of the opposite party. The appointment is for two years, and is made in odd years.
The State Board of Elections appoints the Director upon recommendation of the County Board of Elections.
The Board meets the first Tuesday of each month at 5:00 pm in the Elections Office, 101 South Greene Street, Suite B-01, Anson County Government Building (Old BC Moore Building). These meetings are open to the public.
Realizing the elections office is where true democracy begins, we will put forth our best efforts to represent Anson County as a positive governmental agency by: serving all qualified citizens, eighteen years and older, by exercising the powers and duties as set forth in the Election and related Laws and rules and regulations of north Carolina from General Statutes, Chapter 163. We will register and maintain voter registration, file and serve candidates, fairly and impartially, to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
